A 16-year-old boy had a history of chronic migrating patches of hair loss for 6 months. The presence of stubble, crusts, and hairs of different lengths suggested a diagnosis of traumatic hair loss. One cm long hairs were noted on a 4 X 2 cm area in the patch after a 1 month application of an occlusive dressing.
