This 2-day-old boy was admitted to the nursery intensive care unit for management of severe hypoglycemia. A large tumor was noted on his right foot in the delivery room. A skin biopsy on the day of admission revealed a glut-1 negative hemangioma. The tumor enlarged for several days before stabiliizing. The hypoglycemia which initially required systemic steroids and diazoxide resolved within a few days, and a specific cause was never identified. The following week he was started on propranolol which was increased uneventfully over 4 days to 2 mg/kg/day divided every 8 hours. Within 3 days the tumor began to lighten in color and decrease in firmness.
