This healthy 7-year-old boy developed diffuse occasionally itchy scale shortly after birth. The diffuse dirty looking scale and sparing of the flexural creasess was suggestive of X-linked ichthyosis, but both he and his mother had normal eye examinations, and we were not able to obtain mutational analysis. No one in the family had similar findings.
