This healthy 5-year-old girl was diagnosed with an inflammatory tinea capitis and dermatophytid reaction. She was treated with topical steroids and oral griseofulvin. The id reaction resolved within a week and the scalp improved slowly over 2 months. Her scalp culture grew Trichophyton tonsurans.
