Comments

This 8 day old 650 gram 25 week gestation premature infant developed hemmorrhagic erosions in the skin creases of the groin and axillae after an extensive evaluation for sepsis. Betadine was used to clean the skin for obtaining blood cultures and placing intravenous lines. The combination of extremely sensitive fragile skin and contact irritant dermatitis from Betadine in an ill profoundly premature infant produced the erosions and crusts.
