Comments

Immunofluorescence mapping shows type IV collagen at the floor of the blister. Laminin was found on the blister floor, and bullous pemphigoid antigen was located primarily on the blister roof. These findings are typical of junctional epidermolysis bullosa where the cleavage plane of the blister passes through the lamina lucida.

Description

Antibodies directed against type IV collagen, which is located in the basal lamina, form an intense band at the base of the blister.
