This 48-year-old man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome developed disseminated brownish purple papules, nodules, and tumors some with overlying erosions on his arms, legs, face, back, and chest. He had a history of bleeding his bowel related to ulcerated tumors in the bowel and respiratory symtoms from tumors in the lungs. Skin biopsy of a nodule on the right thigh showed the typical changes of Kaposi sarcoma. He was started on highly active retroviral therapy for Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection and chemotherapy was being considered.
