Comments

This extremely uncommon lesion was on the chest of a 10-year-old boy. Not much is known about kaposiform hemangioendotheliomas, but they are thought to have low-grade malignant potential. They are often deep-seated and locally aggressive. The histology in this case is typical, showing features similar to Kaposi sarcoma, which is the main entity in the differential diagnosis.

Description

The pleomorphism with redundant nuclear membranes and visible nucleoli becomes more apparent at high power. A mitotic figure is in the center of the field. Scattered eosinophilic hyaline globules are present, reminiscent of findings in Kaposi sarcoma.
