This 12-year-old boy with a history of recurrent sun burns each summer developed persistent lentigines on his upper back. He also had several pigmented nevi one of which on the right upper back darkened suddenly. A biopsy of the nevus was pending.

clustered 2-4 mm brown macules in a band on upper back and shoulders; balck 2 mm papule on right upper back
