Comments

This patient was on prednisone and developed a localized depressed plaque-like area. The biopsy shows typical features of lipoatrophy. This finding can be seen with HIV, drugs and as a congenital finding.

Description

The fat lobules are small, making the septae appear wide. Individual adipocytes are small, with the appearance of hyalinization. There is no inflammatory infiltrate.
