Comments

This patient presented with a skin mass. Following the diagnosis of metastatic adenocarcinoma (and an immunoprofile suggestive of primary salivary origin), a mass was found in the parotid gland. Metastatic carcinoma from the salivary gland is unusual. When it occurs, like most metastases, there is a predilection for the skin in the region of the primary tumor.

Description

The atypical cells are large and eosinophilic (oncocytic). The cells are polygonal and form ducts. There are pink secretions within the ducts. In several foci, they are plugging lymphatics (not shown).
