This 8-year-old boy with Microsporum canis tinea capitis had an urticarial reaction while on oral griseofulvin and was switched to a half tablet of terbinafine daily. After 1 month of treatment he had persistent inflammation, and the dose was increased to a full tablet daily with eventual clearing over the subsequent month. It took an additional 3 months for the hair to regrow.
