Description

Histologic sections of the skin show thickening and sclerosis of the entire reticular dermis and dermal expansion. Diminution of adnexal structures is noted with only one eccrine unit being identified. The perieccrine fat is absent. A cellular proliferation is not noted, nor is a significant inflammatory component present. The overlying epidermis is relatively unremarkable. Focally the dermal alteration extends into a subcutaneous septum.
