Comments

This healthy 6-week-old girl developed an expanding edematous annular plaque on her right sole 3 weeks earlier. She was treated with topical antibiotics and antifungal creams without improvement. A skin biopssy demonstrated branching septate hyphae, and a culture grew Trichophyton tonsurans. The source of infection was inclear. There was a yellow cast to the serum in the crusted papules and vesicles from persistent breast milk jaundice.
