A 12 year old boy was evaluated for occipital scalp hair loss that appeared suddenly 2 weeks earlier. He had a 2 year history of skin picking on his arms and legs, and his mother admitted that his father and older brother had a similar history of skin picking. Note the stubble and hairs of differing lengths in the occipital patch.
