Comments

This 48-year-old woman had a violaceous nodule on her wrist. The clinician submitted it as a neuroma vs dermatofibroma. Papillary eccrine adenomas are rare lesions, typically on the extremities of African-American females, as in this case. They are benign. The histology in this case is characteristic.

Description

A higher power view show the characteristic features. The glandular/ductular elements are lined by at least 2 cell layers. Micropapillae project into the lumen with some cribriforming. There are also eosinophilic secretions. Cytologic atypia and mitoses are not present.
