This young woman bith off a hangnail between the nail plate and the lateral nail fold. Two days later she developed pain and swelling deep to the lateral nail fold. Pustule formation was evident but subtle. It resolved with conservative treatment (cephalexin and frequent warm soapy soaks).

Description

swollen, exquisitely tender distal left index finger.
