Five weeks ago this healthy 5-year-old girl developed pityriasis rosea with a prominent purpuric component. Note the herald patch on her right wrist. Although she complained of pruritus, she had no excoriations, and she was not noted to scracth while in the office.

widespread symmetric nonblanching red to violaceous papules and annular plaques many with trailing scale on the inner aspect of the border
