Comments

This adolescent developed scaling and peeling of the bottoms of her great toes with some involvement of the balls of the feet and the bottoms of the other toes. This was associated with daily swimming, but she developed similar patches in the winter while wearing tennis shoes to school. The repetative wetting and drying of the skin associated with swelling and shrinking of the stratum corneum is thought to predispose susceptible individuals to this dermatosis. Se improved with frequent applications of petrolatum especially after swimming and at bedtime.
