A 27 year old healthy man developed a rapidly progressive red scaly eruption over much of the skin surface. Note the follicular involvement on the extremities and the distinct diffuselyscattered areas of sparing typical of pityriasis rubra pilaris. His nails and oral pharynx were normal, but his palms and soles were salmon-colored and scaly.
