Comments

This 28-year-old woman was evaluated for an enlarging painful lump on her ear. I had been present for 5 months. The lesion healed after gentle incision and drainage. Pseudocysts of the auricle are uncommon, noninflammatory intracartilaginous fluctuant masses that typically involve the upper third or half of the ear. Although the cause is unclear, ischemia rather than trauma has been proposed as the cause of cartilaginous degeneration that leads to the accumulation of yellowish fluid.
