Shortly after birth a reddish purple nodule developed on the sacrum of a healthy infant. After a month of rapid growth, the lesion stabilized and a central crusted ulcer appeared. The ulcer healed with gentle tap water compresses and topical antibiotics. Ultrasound of the lumbosacral spine demonstrated normal structures.
