Comments

A helathy 12 year old girl complained of recurrent swellings on the inner aspect of her lower lip that eventually ruptured and healed quickly. She had persistent small papules on her lower lip that started when she had her orthodontic braces put in place. These papules resolved for several months when she had the braces removed for 3 months only to recur as soon as they were replaced. The persistent papules undoubtedly represent enlarged minor salivary glands, the the intermittent large nodules which rupture are probably mucoceles. She does admit to habitually biting her lower lip.
