Skin scrapings from the right sole of aa 3-month-old girl with a generalized papulopustular eruption, some of which were elongated, showed viable scabes mites, eggs, and fecal material. Her mother had an excoriated papular eruption on her back but no other members of the family were symptomatic. The child and her family were treated with permethrin cream on the day of the visit and repeated one week later.
