Blue nevi come a variety of patterns. This lesion is in a dense sclerotic background without much pigment, typical of the sclerotic blue nevus. Often there are more typical areas of a blue nevus nearby. Although not necessary, a Mart-1 stain can be helpful for identification of melanocytic lineage, as in this case.

Description

This is a Mart-1 (melan-A) stain confirming the melanocytic nature of the cells.
