Comments

This 13-year-old girl was evaluated for a rashof 3 weeks duration on her face, hands, and feet. She also had smooth topped hyperpigmented papules on the labia majora. Other than the skin rash her physical examination was normal. Screening for sexually transmitted diseases revealed posite HIV titers; a positive RPR with a titer of 1/128, a reactive Treponema pallidum microhemagglutination assay, a positive Human immunodeficiency test, and positive pregnancy test. This patient demonstrates the importance of screening for multiple sexually transmitted diseases in this setting.
