Comments

This 14-year-old girl presented with a neck lesion submitted as a nevus. Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is often present at birth and most often presents on the scalp. It often arises in association with a nevus sebaceus as in this case. The histology in this case is typical.

Description

Histologic sections of skin show an exophytic/endophytic lesion creating a cystic space with a connection to the surface. The epidermis is papillomatous and acanthotic. Bulbous papillae project into the cystic space. An inflammatory component is present at the base.
