This eyelid specimen from a 36-year-old white man was felt clinically to be xanthalasma. Syringomas typically present around the eyes/eyelids of young adults. Rarely they are found in other locations, such as in the pelvic region.

Description

Histologic sections of skin show a proliferation of small, bland glands, within a fibrous stroma, situated in the dermis. The proliferation is vaguely wedge-shaped, although it does extend to the specimen margins.
