Comments

This adolescent girl complained of episodic outbreaks of purple patches on her arms and legs. An extensive medical evaluation showed no evidence of underlying disease. She would often awaken in the morning with new lesions which developed during the night, and old lesions healed without treatment in 2-3 days. A skin biopsy showed extravasated red blood cells but otherwise normal skin.
