Comments

This 5-year-old boy with methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis meningitis developed a high fever and generalized morbilliform eruption while on vancomycin and rifampin. The lesions persisted after discontinuation of the rifampin, and he experienced fever spikes and worsening within several hours of administration of vancomycin. Shortly after discontinuation of the vancomycin he defervesced and the eruption began to improve.
