Comments

This 6 year old boy developed fever and a tender swollen right arm 24 hours before a linear eruption comprised of clusters of 2-3 mm vesicles. The following day several scattered red papules and vesicles appeared on his right chest, left leg, abdomen, and neck. A Tzanck smear showed multinucleated giant cells and polymerase chain reaction studies were pending. He received varicella vaccine when he was 15 months old.
