Comments

In the United States the most common vectors of Rickettsia rickettsii include Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Dermacentor andersoni (wood tick), and Amblyomma americanum. The adults are active feeders from April to October, and the risketsia e can be transmitted by a bite from an infected tick or contamination of the skin when the tick is being removed or crushed. See clinical images of Rocky Mountain spotted fever in dermatlas.com.
