A 24 year old woman with type IV familial hyperlipidemia developed eruptive xanthomas over the extensor surfaces of her extremities. Within 2 months of starting medications to lower serum lipids the papules and nodules resolved without leaving scars.

multiple 3-5 mm symmetric yellowish-brown waxy papules some of which are confluent
