A 6 year old boy with an undefined autoimmune disorder on chronic oral steroid therapy developed a unilateral dermatomal vesicular eruption on the right side of the penis. Immunoperoxidase stains for varicella zoster virus were positive. He was treated with oral acycloivir, and the vesicules crusted over and healed within 10 days.
